Brian Magerko’s expertise lies at the intersections of computation, cognition, and the social/creative interactions between humans and artificial intelligence.

Brian Magerko’s research explores how studying human and machine cognition can inform the development of new human-computer creative experiences. His work brings together cognitive science, computer science, and computational media research to design and develop technologies related to human creative socio-cognitive processes. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles related to computational media, cognition, and learning. His research has been featured in the New Yorker, USA Today, CNN, Yahoo! Finance, NPR, and other global and regional outlets, as well as galleries and museums around the world. His music-based learning environment for computer science, EarSketch, has been used by more than 160,000 learners. At Ðǿմ«Ã½, he leads the Expressive Machinery Lab.
